Whitney Jones

Tell us about your family.
I married my childhood sweetheart, Jeremy Jones, 22 years ago! We have two beautiful
children, Harrison and Alayna. We live on the farm where I was born and raised, just outside of
Humnoke.

When/How did you begin your relationship with Jesus Christ?
I gave my life to Jesus in April of 1986. I was 8 years old. I remember going to the preacher
after our lesson on a Wednesday night and telling him that I needed Jesus. We knelt down
together and I asked Jesus to be my Savior. My life has never been the same.

How did you come to Lonoke Baptist Church?
In 2008 God called us away from the church we had served in and attended since our
childhood. We knew that God wanted us to move to another church, but we had no idea where
that was. We decided to visit all the churches within a thirty minute drive of our home and see
where God was leading. In October of 2008 the kids wanted to attend the Air Show at the Little
Rock Air Force Base. Lonoke Baptist was on our list of churches to visit, and that Sunday, Lonoke
was on the way to the Air Show! We knew nothing about this church before we came. We
walked in that first Sunday and something felt different. We hadn’t experienced a feeling like
that since we started our search. The kids were the first ones to say that this is where they
wanted to join. They loved it immediately and so did we. After that first visit, we really never
visited anywhere else. This has been home ever since, and we love it!

What is your favorite scripture? Philippians 4:6-8 Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be made know to God. And the peace
of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these
things.

What is your favorite thing about your job?
Getting to spend time with the kids and getting to know them. We often underestimate
children. We really have more to learn from them than we might think.

What is the best thing you have ever eaten? Barbecue shrimp at Mr. B’s in New Orleans. A close
second is fried squirrel.

What is your favorite TV show/Movie? Growing Pains was my favorite show when I was growing
up. Ask me sometime about when I got Kirk Cameron’s autograph! It was quite a memorable
day. Pretty Woman is my favorite movie.

What are your hobbies? I love to cook, sing, play piano and write songs.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you: I have Spina Bifida and by
doctor’s standards should never have been able to walk or have children. They use my x-rays to
teach neurosurgeon interns and when they ask them if the person in the x-ray is paralyzed or
walking, their answer is always paralyzed. I don’t know why God decided to give me the gift of
walking, but I’m forever grateful that He worked a miracle in my life.

If you weren’t doing your job now, what job would you have? I would be a stay at home mom.
That was always my plan, God just saw fit to place a call on my life that allows me to serve Him
in this position and still be a mom.
